Job Description
Join our team for the summer of 2024!

Who you are: An experienced instructor with broad sailing experience and a passion to pass on your knowledge of the sport you love.

Who we are: Saunderstown Yacht Club is a small sailing-centric club located on the West Passage of Lower Narragansett Bay, 10 minutes from the beaches in Narragansett and 15 minutes from Newport. Reliable seabreeze, minimal powerboat traffic, and beautiful scenery make this one of the best spots on the Bay for sailing and teaching. Our fleet consists of Blue Dragon prams, Open Bics, Optis, 420s, Lasers, and RS Quests.

Historically, we have around 65-80 students across 5 classes for the duration of the summer. Our summer program length is 8 weeks, plus a setup week before the program and another 2-3 days at the end to break everything down. Compensation will be based on experience and will be comparable to area programs.

Instructors should be comfortable teaching all levels from beginners to the racing team.

We have openings in the following areas:

Instructional level (no travel, learn to sail)

Adventure sailing in various craft (non-racing classes, no travel)

Opti Green and RWB racing (local travel to regattas)

420 racing (local travel to regattas)

Laser racing (local travel to regattas)

A full sailing resume, cover letter, contact information for at least two references, should be sent to sycsailingchair@gmail.com.

A RI Safe Boating Certificate (or equivalent) and CPR and Concussion Protocol training is also required.
