West River Sailing Club’s Junior Program is hiring instructors and coaches for Summer 2026. Located in Galesville, MD along the shores of the West River on the Chesapeake Bay, our program has been teaching youth sailing since the 1950s. We offer a dynamic, community-driven environment with positions available across all levels—from our playful Sea Urchins to our competitive Race Team. We’re looking for enthusiastic, skilled educators who love sailing, mentoring, and creating unforgettable summer experiences. Whether you're guiding beginners or coaching 29er sailors at regattas, you’ll be part of a team that values growth, sportsmanship, and fun.
 
Positions Available:
  • Sea Urchins Instructor (ages 5–7)
  • Learn-to-Sail Instructors (Optis, 420s)
  • Adventure & Intermediate Instructors
  • Race Team Coaches (Optis, Lasers, 420s, 29ers)
Details:
  • Season: June 22 – August 14, 2026 (plus setup/orientation and wrap-up weeks)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with occasional variations for special events or classes
  • Compensation: Hourly, based on experience and competitive with among regional programs along with paid overtime
  • Housing or boat dockage may be available
  • Some part-time or off-season positions may be available as well

Job Requirements
Requirements:
  • Enthusiasm for youth development and sailing education
  • Sailing experience appropriate to coaching level
  • US Sailing Level 1 (or higher) certification
  • Current First Aid/CPR (can be completed during orientation)
  • Maryland or equilvalent Boater's License
  • SafeSport certification
  • Background check
