Job Description

Northwest Maritime’s Learn to Sail program is a cornerstone of our summer offerings, providing youth ages 8 to 18 with the opportunity to master sailing on a diverse fleet of Optis, Vanguards, and FJs, from novice to advanced levels. As our Summer Race Coach, you will take the helm of the Summer Racing program, guided by our Summer Program Coordinator. Your role will encompass teaching dynamic classes, maintaining our fleet, and ensuring strict adherence to all NWM safety policies and procedures, all while relishing a summer spent on the water. We seek a strong leader and exemplary role model to inspire both assistant instructors and participants, making a lasting impact through your leadership and passion for sailing.

This position may extend into the fall and school year, offering a continuous journey of growth and adventure.

Job Requirements
- 3 + years of experience teaching in a sail training environment - An ability to communicate clearly, work collaboratively, and be flexible in dynamic situations. As well as exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills - Knowledge of safe boating practices with considerable sailing experience - Good understanding of the Racing Rules of Sailing - Dinghy, outboard, and towing experience - Current US Sailing Level 1 Small boat Instructor, Level 2/3 preferred - Current First Aid/CPR certification - CDC “Heads Up” online concussion training - Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
