Augusta Sailing Club, located on beautiful Clarks Hill Lake in Appling, GA is seeking enthusiastic, hard working, passionate instructors for our 2020 Summer Camp. Our program is divided into multiple weeklong classes including an all day Adventure Sailing Camp, as well as half-day beginner-advanced Open Skiffs, Lasers, and 420s.
Adventure Sailing Instructors:
We will be offering 4-5 weeks of Adventure Sailing. Camps will run Monday-Friday, 9a-5p, starting the week of June 1st, 2020. These camps are intended for the beginner sailor with an emphasis on getting kids comfortable on the water, learning basic sailing skills, and having fun. Applicants should have experience sailing/coaching Sunfish, Open Skiffs, and JY. Patience and excellent communication skills are essential. We are looking for applicants who are self-motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic, and able to work well with others. They must also maintain a safe environment at all times, communicate and execute effective lesson plans, and have a genuine passion for sailing and working with kids.
Intermediate/Advance Sailing Instructors:
In addition to our full day Adventure Sailing Camps, Augusta Sailing Club will offer half-day camps for those students wanting to further their sailing skills. We are looking for instructors with experience racing/coaching both single and double-handed dinghies. Classes will run Monday-Friday with morning sessions 9a-1p and afternoon sessions 1p-5p. Instructors will be responsible for teaching different levels each week, as well as a variety of boats including Open Skiffs, Lasers, and 420s. Lessons plans are to include advanced boat handling, tactics, racing strategies, and fleet management.
We are looking for assistant instructors for both the Adventure Sailing, as well as the intermediate/advanced camps. Applicants must work well with others, be responsible, and maintain general enthusiasm and excitement about the program while getting kids engaged. All instructors are expected to act as role models at all times, providing a safe environment for sailors on and off the water. Excellent power boating and sailing skills are needed.

In addition to a competitive salary (commensurate with experience), housing will be provided for non-local instructors spending the summer with us.
• Experience sailing and coaching dinghies
• Prior work experience with children such as camp counselor, instructor
• Maintain a high level of awareness and safety
• Current US Sailing Level 1 or higher certification
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
• Powerboat Safety certification
• Safe Sport Training annually
• Pass a background check and drug screening
