The Hotchkiss School is looking for an accomplished and enthusiastic coach to assist in the school’s sailing program, particularly at the varsity level. The varsity sailing team is accomplished, having won several New England Championships in recent years and placing 10th in the National Fleet Race Championship last spring. The team is also rich in young talent; this is an excellent opportunity to work with some high-level young sailors.
Collegiate and/or elite sailing experience
Experience coaching at the high school level or above
Strong references from previous coaches and coworkers
Experience creating and managing training programs and day-to-day program operations, including rigging and boat maintenance
Experience organizing race schedules and managing regattas
Ability to foster enthusiasm with young people new to the sport
Positive, patient, and encouraging coaching mentality
Eligible for Connecticut Public Service License for driving students
Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparing for, assisting with, and/or running practices, game day coaching, traveling with students, collaboration with other coaches, and other administrative tasks as assigned. The ideal candidate will fulfill the teacher-coach-mentor responsibilities and will promote character building, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
