Vineyard Haven Yacht Club, located on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts is searching for a Sailing Program Director to oversee and advance our 2024 summer sailing programs.
We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, organized, hands-on professional with a combination of teaching, managerial, sailing and communication skills to supervise and coordinate instructors, race coaches and all sailing activities. Programs include all levels of junior and adult sailing instruction, and junior and adult racing in the Club’s fleet of Optis, 420’s, Lasers, Sonars, Herreshoff 12-1/2's, O’Pen BICs and windsurfers. Instructional programs range from pre-sailing 6-7 year-olds through competitive race teams and adult sailing.
The Sailing Program Director will report to the General Manager and will work with Junior and Adult Sailing Committees to hire staff, design and implement class curriculum, and effectively communicate with all associated participants. Additionally, they will work with race team coaches, race committees and regatta management to coordinate and facilitate logistics for sailing events both on and off-island. Although these tasks require office time, this is not strictly an office position and the Sailing Program Director is expected to spend some time on the water overseeing classes in progress to help assure that they are safe and effective and that the Club’s fleet is well maintained. The Sailing Program Director’s role includes acting as mentor and educator not only to the sailors, but to the sailing staff as well.

Competitive Compensation. Some housing is available.
Position is full time early June through Labor Day weekend, with some off-season work collaborating with the General Manager and Sailing Committees to hire staff, develop curriculum, and identify necessary resources for the upcoming season, as well as debriefing after the season.
Requires a college degree and a minimum of 3 years experience as a High School Sailing Coach, College Sailing Coach, or Sailing Program Director.
