Job Description

This unique role combines serving as the Director of Culver's Summer Naval School and Head Sailing Coach for Culver Academies' boarding school with waterfront and fleet management. The Waterfront Director reports to the Director of Summer Schools & Camps and the Director of Athletics. This person will have a broad scope of responsibilities which will include, but not be limited to, staff training and management, fleet equipment management, organizational and budgetary duties, student instruction, and coaching. In the fall and spring, the role will encompass leading a competitive sailing team to include event participation while striving to instill values of sportsmanship and healthy competition. Additionally, the 12-month Waterfront Director will have flexibility in the winter months to promote the growth and development of the sailing program at Culver through a combination of on-campus and off-campus activities. 
Job Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor's degree in education, recreation, or a related field is required.
Minimum 8 years of experience in all phases of sailing instruction.
Ability to work effectively in the Microsoft Office Suite, including calendaring, email, word, and spreadsheets.
Lifeguard certification, proficiency in first aid care, and certified in CPR.
Holds instructional qualifications and ongoing certification with US Sailing or other recognized national governing body.
Must be capable and experienced in watercraft maintenance, replacement, and acquisition for a broad fleet of vessels.
Must be an effective communicator, able to interact in a professional manner.
Demonstrated people management experience and capabilities.
Effective planning and organizational skills.
Possess a valid driver's license (chauffeur's license preferred).
Available for travel on overnight trips.
