Job Description
MIT Sailing is a unique athletic facility in Cambridge, MA which introduces over 3000 students annually to sailing on the Charles River. Open 7 days/ week from April through mid-November with collegiate regattas and boat maintenance in the other months. The Sailing Master and Varsity Coaches are assisted by Dockstaff in managing a broad-based program which guides beginners, racers, foilers, sailboarders and offshore sailors in finding their niche. The pavilion is an oasis from a highly stressful academic atmosphere and its culture is valued as one of the students’ most valued recreational space on campus.

This is a full time (40 hour/week) position with commitments on Fridays and Mondays from noon until 8ish. Weekend duties are from 9 until 8ish or sundown. Hourly Pay will be commensurate with experience. Free athletic department usage privileges, optional 401K and health insurance are offered after an onboarding period. Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn new teaching techniques from current staff members are highly valued. Learning how collegiate regattas are managed and assisting with making visitors feel comfortable will be part of the amazing experience for you. US Sailing certifications are desirable but not a requirement.

If interested in applying, please respond to Sailing Master Franny Charles with a letter outlining your skills and experience before the application deadline of March 1, 2022. This position will be filled on that date or before, if available, and  hopefully be the beginning of a very rewarding experience for you and the students of MIT. Background checks must be completed before position may be filled.

Job Requirements
We are looking for a candidate to help manage the facility, be able to teach in group settings as well as in an individual setting with comfort in small tippy dinghies and additionally operating outboard safety launches.
