Job Description

The White Bear Sailing School (WBSS), located in Minnesota at the historic White Bear Yacht Club on beautiful White Bear Lake, is seeking candidates for a full-time Waterfront Director. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a well-established, well-supported sailing school with growing enrollment and exceptional facilities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a unique mix of sailing experience and business acumen. They will have strong communication and organizational skills as well as a high-energy, enthusiastic personality. They will be exceptional with children of all ages including the team of young instructors/coaches.

Position Overview

  • This position is responsible for the daily leadership and coordination of all WBSS waterfront activities including, but not limited to, planning, administration, marketing, communications, safety, equipment, and facilities.
  • This position directs the sailing program through the hiring, training, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating of an exceptional team of sailing instructors/coaches
  • This position serves as the lead high school coach in the spring and the fall and may personally instruct various classes as well.
  • This position reports to the Executive Committee of the White Bear Yacht Club Joint Sailing Committee (a joint White Bear Yacht Club and White Bear Sailing School board). The position is self-directed, yet well supported by committee members and active volunteers.
  • This position is a year-round salaried opportunity that is full-time in the spring, summer, and fall, and part-time in the winter. It includes paid time off and reimbursement for health insurance costs.
Job Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of recreational and/or competitive sailing experience
- 2+ years of professional experience including at least one year in a supervisory role
- 2+ years of coaching or teaching experience
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in a field such as education, communications, business or another related field
