Job Description
The Venice Youth Boating Association (VYBA) located on the grounds of the Venice Yacht Club in beautiful Venice, Florida is seeking to hire an executive director to help us realize our goal of becoming a premier youth sailing center.  This position reports directly to our enthusiastically supportive board of directors and oversees all aspects of our sailing programs.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to attending monthly board meetings, hiring, developing and supervising coaches, scheduling classes, attending regattas as needed, tracking equipment maintenance and replacement cycles, directing our annual Venetian Cup Regatta, maintaining our social media sites, communicating with stakeholders, updating procedure and policy manuals as needed, monitoring tuition payments - plus occasionally writing grants and helping with fundraising and community outreach. One might think of this role as being along the lines of a conventional Sailing Director job with a heavy youth focus and some nonprofit leadership flavor - this is an ideal opportunity for a career Sailing Director that is looking to take the next step with developing their skillset while enjoying year-round South Florida sunshine along the way!

Qualified candidates will have at least level one sailing certification and proficiency with operating powered coach boats.  A strong administrative skill set is also essential.  Qualified candidates will obviously have an inclination for working with youth sailors of up to high school age and by extension their parents.  Additionally, candidates will be expected to establish and develop a culture that supports the mission of the VYBA. Most importantly, qualified candidates will understand that safety goes hand in hand with everything that takes place on the water, in and around our facilities.

The candidate that is offered this role can expect to be supported during the onboarding process by both the current Interim Executive Director as well as the most recent full time Executive Director. VYBA is enthusiastic about providing the right candidate with the support they need to successfully take on our Executive Director position without skipping a beat.
