The Point O’Woods Yacht Squadron is looking for a mature, enthusiastic sailor with a strong background in instruction and racing, as well as a demonstrated ability to teach young sailors with varied skills and interests. The position includes housing and is subject to a background check and reference checks.
Point O’ Woods is a private summer community of 130 homes located on Fire Island, which is in between New York’s Great South Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Our Yacht Squadron operates a sailing program that provides sailing lessons for children and adults, and which owns and maintains a fleet of forty sailboats and powerboats.

Required Qualifications
Strong leadership skills
Opti / 420 racing experience
US Sailing Level 1 Instructor
Prior race coach/instructor experience
Current CPR & First Aid certifications
Keeping boats race-ready and experienced in basic repairs
Competent in setting up and towing boats
Ability to operate a motorboat safely
Comfortable and enthusiastic to teach/manage a class of sailors ranging from 7-18 yrs old.
Eager to learn new skills in sailing and teaching
Openly shares knowledge and encourages a love for life-long sailing
Preferred Qualifications
College racing experience
US Sailing Level 2 or 3 Instructor
Advanced Lifesaving / Water Safety Instructor
Ability to drive and tow a trailer
