Job Description

Western Carolina Sailing Club was established in 1963 in Anderson, SC. Our club house sits atop a hill, overlooking Lake Hartwell. Situated just outside of Greenville, SC and Clemson, SC, our club has great access to sailing in the Southeast Region. Starting fresh in 2021, WCSC will be growing their junior summer programs to include 3 full weeks of sailing camps (June 7-11, June 14-18 and June 21-25), with each camp running from 9am to 5pm, for students aged 7-17. Each week will include camps for either beginner or intermediate optimist/420 or adventure sailing. Our junior sailboat fleets currently consist of Optimist and 420 (non spinnaker) sailboats. We are looking for personable, self motivated instructors to help us establish a strong youth program that will continue to grow in years to come. Potential Spring/Fall coaching opportunities available.

Job Requirements
-Have exceptional sailing skills that provides the foundation to passionately teach a younger student how to sail or grow in their sailing ability.

-Be a certified US SAILING Instructor (min. Level I Small Boat Sailing Instructor). Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications and SafeSport Training. 1+ years of experience preferred.

-Arrive and be ready to begin work at the scheduled time, dressed in appropriate attire. Camps will run from 9-5, with instructor hours being from 8-6. Work weeks will average 50 hours.

-Instructors will demonstrate a commitment to working as a team, and be supportive of the efforts of their fellow instructors. It is expected that each instructor will be a role model, on and off the water, for all students.

-Have experience sailing or coaching Optimist and 420s.
